Stimulate the Economy, Not the Government. My thoughts on my Meet the Press interview this weekend

Yesterday I had an appearance on Meet the Press on the economy. I made three central points.

First, I warned about the continued funding of the economy with public sector debt. This policy will destroy the private market in the long run. As I said on the program, this is not a partisan issue, it's a "growth of government" issue, and we have to address it now or America's future could be very much in jeopardy.

Second, I reiterated my belief that it's time to end the TARP program and use the repaid funds to buy down the unthinkably  high debt we've amassed.

And finally, I made the point that instead of passing a second stimulus, Congress ought to revisit the first stimulus and replace unproductive spending with job-creating incentives that will get our private economy moving again. The fact we're even considering a second stimulus is an admission that the first stimulus was a failure.

I have worked my whole life in the financial sector (almost 30 yrs prior to my becoming disabled). I earned my licenses as a CPA and Investment & Insurance Advisor. MITT MAKES SENSE!!! Please spread the word to everyone you know about Mitt's web-site and PAC. I can't imagine ANYONE else capable of fixing the economic mess our country is in. People need to be aware (and honest) of the role government has played in ruining our economy. For example; take stock of the last ten years and your own personal wealth, dust off your tax returns and calculate the percentage of your income that went to taxes during the Clinton and Bush Presidencies. Then keep track of that percentage during the Obama Administration. If you are honest, you will admit that during the Bush Administration you prospered immensly UNTIL THE DEMOCRATS TOOK BACK THE SENATE MAJORITY. When that happened, our economy started it's downward spiral. MITT understands economics, finance AND government. HE'S OUR MAN, NO ONE ELSE CAN PUT HUMPTY DUMPTY TOGETHER AGAIN! NO ONE. And if elected in 2012 I can guarantee he won't whine like a baby about what he's inherited, he'll just roll up his sleeves, get to work and take responsibility for his administration!

Mitt, you are right on the money! I wish you were managing our money rather than the "progressive" bunch in there now! Keep up the good work Mitt! Kristin P. Salem, NH
