Born in North Louisiana on December 5, 1946, Congressman Rodney Alexander is truly a man of his district. As a family man and an active member of his community, Rodney brings the proud values of Louisiana's 5th District to Washington where he fights for the families and businesses he represents.

As the Representative for the 5th Congressional District, Rodney has the important job of watching out for the families living in nearly one-third of his great state.

Extending from Iberville Parish in South Central Louisiana all the way north to the Arkansas border, the 5th District includes portions of twenty-two of Louisiana's sixty-four parishes.

Rodney is a veteran public servant; having first been elected at the age of 25 to the Jackson Parish Police Jury and then serving for 16 years as a Louisiana State Representative where he was the chairman of the House Health and Welfare Committee. In Congress, Rodney Alexander is proud to be continuing the work which earned him the reputation of being a highly effective, non-partisan lawmaker, able to get things done to make life better for real Americans.

Rodney's committee assignment will allow him to influence issues of great concern to the people of the 5th District and the State of Louisiana. As a member of the powerful House Appropriations Committee, Rodney will be even more effective in delivering federal dollars to meet Louisiana's critical transportation needs as well as directly address its local agricultural industry.

Rodney is pro-life and pro-2nd Amendment and serves as a conservative voice in Congress. He is committed to helping his colleagues on both sides of the aisle find a bipartisan consensus on critical issues ranging from health care to tax reform.

Having attended Jonesboro-Hodge High School and Louisiana Tech in Ruston, Rodney is a proud product of Louisiana's public schools. Due to his own school experience and being married to an educator, Rodney is a firm supporter of our public schools and all forms of public education.

Rodney has been married to the former Nancy Sutton for thirty-seven years. They have three children Ginger, Rod, and Lisa and four grandchildren.

Rodney and Nancy live with their family in Quitman, Louisiana and attend Sweetwater Baptist Church.
