Romney To Be Featured Speaker At Mich. GOP Event - AP
LANSING, Mich. (AP) ― Potential 2012 GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney will return next month to the state that gave him his biggest presidential primary win last year.
The Michigan native and former Massachusetts governor will be the keynote speaker at the Sept. 25-27 Mackinac Republican Leadership Conference on Mackinac Island.
Michigan GOP Chairman Ron Weiser made the announcement Wednesday.
In mid-January 2008, Romney won 39 percent of the Michigan GOP primary vote to Arizona Sen. John McCain's 30 percent. But Romney dropped out weeks later after not doing as well as hoped in the Super Tuesday contests in early February.
